Forbes has compiled its first-ever list of the richest people in the crypto world. The goal of the ranking is to shed some light on the whole industry, to put it away from its provenance of being a drug dealers' favorite and represent the business in respectable way, according to Chief Content Officer Randall Lane.

The magazine calculated the net worth of crypto moguls based on estimated holdings of virtual currencies, post-tax profits from crypto trading and stakes in crypto-related businesses. The dollar calculations were made using prices on 19 January 2018.
